Sanofi wishes to sell its factory located in Amilly, in the Loiret, which manufactures its aspirin -based drugs sold under the Aspegic and Kardegic brands. This new transfer rekindles concerns again among unions and the government.

Save save Receive the Sanofi alerts after the sale of the Doliprane to the American CD&R fund, Sanofi will once again sell one of its emblematic factories. The French pharmaceutical giant intends to separate from his Amilly site, in the Loiret, which manufactures Aspirin Aspegic, as BFMTV reports this Thursday, March 13. This operation would be planned for the fall and would attribute to the French company Substitipharm the marketing and development of three brands: Aspegic, Kardegic and Cardirene (Kardegic trade name for Italy). This new sale of Sanofi worries both French authorities and unions. “We knew that, anyway, there was a risk” for the Amilly factory, both “because it produces for Opella”, which markets the Aspegic and “because it has been about a year that there is no investment,” said Fabien Mallet, CGT Sanofi-France trade unionist. “But we asked Sanofi to bring back new productions on the site and not to sell it or exteriorize it,” he continues. This operation “is part of the suite” of the transfer of the control of the activity of Sanofi, Opella, to the American CD&R prescription fund and “for the same strategic reasons which lead to these perimeter changes”, he added. Like the Doliprane, Aspegic belongs to the portfolio of brands marketed by Opella. The industrial site would however be taken up by the European subcontractor of pharmaceutical preparations Astrea Pharma, who acquired two French factories at the end of 2024, in Fontaine-lès-Dijon and Monts, in Indre-et-Loire. “New activities and volumes” would be generated by the buyer, according to the project which would have “no impact on employment,” says Sanofi.
