The ‘Axis of Resistance’ created by Iran in the Middle East is not only becoming weak but there is a major breakdown in it. The government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria has been pro-Iran, under the leadership of Assad, Syria has also been a major part of Iran’s ‘Axis of Resistance’. A flexible coalition united against Israel which includes Hamas, Hezbollah and Shia militias of Iraq. But now Hamas has given such a statement regarding Syria which can cause a big blow to Iran. What did Hamas say in its statement? Hamas has congratulated the people of Syria for the ouster of Bashar al-Assad government. The Palestinian rebel group said in its statement, ‘Hamas congratulates the Syrian people for their success in achieving their aspirations for freedom and justice. We appeal to all components of Syrian society to unite. That is, Hamas is congratulating the people of Syria for the rebellion that ended Iran’s dominance in Syria. PIJ Secretary General Jihad al-Nakhlah said, ‘We hope that Syria will continue to truly support the people of Palestine as it has done before.’ Why from Syria? Actually, Syria is a Sunni majority country, but Bashar al-Assad belonged to the Shia community. This is the reason why under his leadership, Syria always remained inclined towards Iran. On the other hand, the rebel groups fighting against the Assad regime in Syria come from the Sunni community and in Palestine too, most of the population is Sunni. Apart from this, according to UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestine refugees, the number of Palestinian refugees registered in Syria in the year 2022 is 4 lakh 38 thousand. Perhaps this is the reason why Palestinian rebel organizations have not even given any statement against the rebel groups in Syria.
