New York. The post of America’s newly elected President Donald Trump is going viral on social media.
In this, he created an atmosphere of laughter and debate by calling Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the ‘governor’ of the ‘great state’ Canada. Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, 78-year-old Trump wrote, “It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Justin Trudeau, Governor of the great state of Canada. I look forward to meeting with the Governor again soon so we can continue our in-depth negotiations on tariffs and trade, with truly great results for all!” This comment immediately went viral. Regarding this, users started debating whether Trump had used these words intentionally. Reports suggest that Trump’s post is actually related to a dinner at Trump’s Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago. During this, Trudeau talked about postponing tariffs on Canadian and Mexican products. According to Fox News, Trump described his proposed tariffs as necessary for border security, curbing drug smuggling and reducing the trade deficit. However, Trudeau objected to this, warning that such steps could seriously harm Canada’s economy. During the dinner, Trump reportedly joked, “Maybe Canada should become America’s 51st state and Trudeau should become its governor.” Due to this the Canadian leaders laughed nervously. This meeting provided Trump an opportunity to reiterate his vision for US-Canada relations before his inauguration on January 20. Trump argued that America gives excessive subsidies to Canada and Mexico. Let us tell you that he recently said in a TV interview, “We give subsidies of more than 100 billion dollars to Canada every year, we give subsidies of about 300 billion dollars to Mexico. Why are we giving subsidies to these countries? “If we are going to give them subsidies, let them become (new) states.” In response to Trump’s comments and threats, Trudeau said his government stands ready to protect Canada’s interests. He said any US tariffs would be responded to with retaliatory measures. He stressed that such actions would ultimately make products more expensive, hurting American consumers. Let us tell you that on November 25, Trump had said that he is planning to impose 25 percent tariff on Canadian and Mexican goods upon taking office. He said that he would do so if both countries do not stop the flow of migrants and drugs into America.
