The Universe of Gaby Grobo unfolds in two simultaneous exhibitions cured by Fernando Farina in Buenos Aires, which connect art and memory, through nature. From the deep it unfolds in one of the new rooms that the Recoleta Cultural Center inaugurated for the visual arts, with an impressive immersive mural; While in the Rubbers gallery, a set of mixed technique works in different formats reveals its own “abstract expressionism” in a monochromy of whites, ocher and lands. In her work the artist undertakes an inner journey towards the anchors of the earth, as a form of dialogue with her own origin. This proposal is an invitation to immerse yourself in the dense matter of that land, very essence of what has been experienced. Upon entering the room, in the deep the viewer is surrounded by a mural that extends throughout the space. The matrica pictorial work acts as a container of landscape textures, as if it were the skin of the earth. It extends continuously by the walls of the room, generating a feeling of total immersion. The layers of painting, dense and tangible, until they seem to breathe, expose the traces of the artist as if they were imbued with a spirit. Given the apparent total abstraction, there appear subtle trees and horizons. The matter becomes the vehicle of the sensory experience, transporting us to a place where the physical is intertwined with the emotional. The mixed technique works in the Rubbers gallery. “I wanted to simulate something under the earth,” says the artist in dialogue with ñ. “The idea is that the depth be anywhere, not only of the pampa or the place where I am, but also of those who start reflecting in that space, so that they inhabit it from their own experience.” The immersive proposal of Gaby Grobo is an act of deep penetration in the essential elements of nature, taking us to a place where reality and emotion merge. The installation, as a multisensory experience, enables to feel part of the landscape, of the territory, of the collective memory that Grobo has managed to capture. Each layer of paint seems to vibrate with the energy of the earth and the natural sounds connect us with a landscape that goes beyond the visual: it feels in the body. In abstract paintings, subtle figurations are detected. Sounds of the Tierralo that transforms this work into a sensory experience is the integration of natural sounds that emerge strongly from different corners of the room. “It all started with the sound. I started thinking that sounds could be: the wind, the rain, but it could also be a jungle. Many of these audios were recorded by me in different parts of the country, even in the missionary jungle. All sounds were synthesized to the same level, ”says the artist. Turbulences, by Gaby Grobo. Before each sound emerges in an emotional landscape. For the most part, these clues were recorded in Carlos Casares, province of Buenos Aires, the artist’s homeland. Thus, the branches of the branches of the trees sneak into space moving with the wind, the trot of the horses, the rain falls, even when it takes the form of a strong storm. They are known voices for those who inhabit the field and also universal sounds that, heard inside the room, have the ability to connect with nature. Water drops falling on Earth add a more layer of acoustic texture to the work. The smell also participates in the experience. The smell of the wet earth creates a visceral link; Mixed with that of alfalfa and wood, they are a direct duct towards the connection between the earth and the memory that Grobo wants to share. Integral immersive experience is a direct appeal to reflect on our relationship with nature and cultural memory. Gaby Grobo combines pigments, inks and asphalt painting, mixed with elements of nature. The alchemy of the subject Galro conceives paint as a vehicle to explore the most intimate feelings and memories. Layers of thick matter overlap on their canvases, as if every line, each brand, were a testament of emotions. Between the most attractive elements of their work, there is the alchemical process through which it combines pigments, inks and asphalt paint, mixed with elements of nature such as earth, straw, roots or branches, creating intense textures and strands. Teresa Pereda is among her teachers. Gaby Grobola Earth represents not only a physical landscape; It is emotional and existential. The exploration of the subject could find echoes in the work of the German artist Anselm Kiefer, who pays tribute in one of the works exhibited. In the series exhibited in Rubbers, the connection of Gaby Grobo is revealed in detail with his place of origin, Carlos Casares, as an intrinsic part of his identity as an artist. Love that land is a vital source of inspiration. Titles such as voices of the soil, hidden territory, earthly silence, feelings of the Earth or identity routes, confirm it. Hide The artist appeared towards the end of 2024 in a collective exhibition. Gaby Grobo’s work challenges her eyes and feels in the body. It vibrates with the density of the earth and the weight of the stories that inhabit it. From the deep it is an invitation to sink into our own emotional geography, to listen to the voices of the soil and to recognize ourselves in that ancestral memory that unites us to the earth. At the time of so much disconnection, its painting reminds us that we are part of it, that in the roughness of the matter also beats life. From the deep one it can be visited in the Cultural Center Recoleta until March 30; while the works in Rubbers gallery until April 11.
