Gaza: Lives of 2,000 people at stake due to Israel’s new eviction orders

December 3, 2024

The eviction order issued by Israel on Monday is the fourth such evacuation order for the area since July, and it covers approximately three square kilometres. OCHA once again stressed that Israel Repeated evacuation orders expose civilians to the dangers of war and deny them access to essential services. Israeli ‘siege’ tightens in northern Gaza UN agency The Northern Gaza Governorate has been under intense Israeli siege for almost two months, leaving up to 75,000 people without regular access to food, water, electricity or reliable health care, as the Gaza Strip continues to suffer mass casualties. Incidents continue. Meanwhile, humanitarian partners report that the entire population of Gaza is in need of humanitarian assistance, including more than 58 thousand people with disabilities who face serious challenges in accessing food. In southern Gaza, some people are going hungry and searching for food in garbage bins, or are facing desperate consequences such as forcing their relatives into early marriage or child labour. OCHA warned that disruptions to the delivery of humanitarian aid remain as the situation continues to worsen. The agency says, “In November, 578 pre-planned aid missions in Gaza required coordination with and approval by Israeli authorities, but they approved only 41 percent of the missions. More than a third of aid missions were refused outright, and the remaining Missions were disrupted or canceled due to security and logistics challenges. OCHA reiterated that humanitarian aid supplies needed to reach civilians would remain unhindered. “Whether people are on the move or staying in place, they must receive uninterrupted access to assistance and must be assured of their safety – and those who are displaced for safety must be accommodated as quickly as possible,” the agency says. “We should be allowed to return soon.”
