The Pervomaisky District Court of Minsk freed herself from punishment and terminated the criminal case of the 78-year-old Belarusian activist Nina Baginskaya, Belsat reports. The session process was closed on May 30. After two hours of consideration of the case, the activist was released, appointing her “preventive supervision”. Perhaps, when making a decision, the judge took into account the age of Baginskaya, the insignificance of the offense and applied Article 79 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (“condemnation without sentencing”), the sources of the publication noted. The Undercarbon case against Nina Baginskaya was excited under the article on repeated violation of the procedure for conducting mass events (Article 342-2 of the Criminal Code of Belarus) due to several administrative protocols received by her in 2024. Among other things, Baginskaya was charged with walks along the streets of Minsk with a white-red-white badge on clothes, in National Symbolism, as well as a T-shirt with the inscription “No War”. According to the Bagin’s human rights center, the Baginsky case became the seventh of the court under article 342-2 from the moment of its introduction to the Belarusian Criminal Code in 2021. The maximum punishment for it provides for up to three years in prison. Ninin Baginskaya has been participating in protests since 1988, and in 2020 it became one of the symbols of protests against the results of presidential elections in Belarus.
