Since March 28, 2025, new subscribers to an SFR box or Red by SFR will have to pay 59 euros for termination fees, against 49 before, if they wish to end their contract with the operator. Changing the Internet supplier could cost new SFR customers more. According to information relayed by Alloforfait.fr on April 1, 2025, the operator modified its general conditions of sale, increasing the termination costs to 59 euros for subscribers to SFR box offers and Red by SFR. “These will now have to pay 59 euros instead of 49 euros to terminate their fixed subscription,” says the specialized site. This evolution only concerns new customers, those who have subscribed after the entry into force of this modification. Former subscribers, for the moment, keep the old price of 49 euros, provided that they do not accept new offer or contractual update. This increase, of 10 euros, is equivalent to an increase of 20 % – a significant figure in a context of generalized inflation of digital services. An additional cost that can be absorbed … Under conditions these costs may seem high, they are sometimes reimbursed by the new operator when the customer changes internet access providers. On the other hand, for those who realize without subscribing elsewhere, these 59 euros are entirely at their expense. An important element to take into account for subscribers simply wishing to cut their fixed line. Note that SFR always applies commissioning costs when subscribing: 49 euros for SFR boxes and 39 euros for RED offers. These costs are currently offered as part of a temporary promotion, but no guarantee is given as to their long -term maintenance. Customers are already subscribed to an SFR or RED offer are not affected by this increase – at least for the moment. However, if their general conditions were to evolve, the new price could be applied to them. In this case, the law would allow them to terminate free of charge within a legal period, as provided for in the consumer code in the event of a unilateral modification of the contract. This strategy is not unprecedented in the sector. Other operators, such as Bouygues Telecom or Orange, are already carrying out termination costs around 60 euros. By positioning itself at 59 euros, SFR is therefore close to this high average, while maintaining attractive prices on its monthly subscriptions, in particular via Red by SFR.
