The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow fined the political scientist Yekaterina Shulman for 10 thousand rubles on the administrative protocol on the participation in the activities of an “unwanted” organization (Article 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), TASS reports.

According to the agency, the reason for the fine was the cooperation of Schulman with the Berlin Center for the Study of Russia and Eurasia. The Carnegie Foundation (Berlin Center – its structural unit) was declared an “undesirable” organization in Russia in July 2024. During the trial, lawyer Shulman Alhas Abgadzhava noted that the administrative offense protocol incorrectly indicates the place of birth of the political scientist and its old passport data is given, and therefore, the case cannot be considered on formal grounds. However, the court did not take into account this violation, TASS. Yekaterina Shulman noted Russia after the beginning of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war. In April 2022, it was declared a “foreign agent”, and in 2023 it was fined twice for 50 thousand rubles for the lack of mandatory marking of the “foreign agent” in publications.
