Kabul: A suicide blast in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Wednesday killed the refugee minister of the Taliban government. Officials said the blast occurred inside the ministry and killed Refugee Minister Khalil Haqqani. He is the most high-profile person to die in a bombing in Afghanistan since the Taliban returned to power three years ago. No one has yet taken responsibility for the blast. Khalil Haqqani is the uncle of acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, who leads a powerful network within the Taliban. The Haqqani group is counted among the most dreaded faction of the Taliban. This is the same group which started suicide attacks for the first time in Afghanistan. Since then, the group has carried out hundreds of suicide attacks across the country. These also include attacks on many foreign embassies, diplomats and military personnel. In such a situation, the question arises that who can challenge the Haqqani group in Afghanistan. It is feared that this work could be done by Islamic State-Khorsan Province (ISKP). Who is Sirajuddin Haqqani? Sirajuddin Haqqani is the Interior Minister in the interim government of Taliban. Sirajuddin Haqqani has a huge stature in the Taliban government. He is also one of the top Taliban commanders who are involved in the government. Haqqani is currently included in the wanted list of the American investigative agency FBI and there is also a reward of $ 10 million on him. He is accused of attacks on several embassies, diplomats and NATO forces.
