It is a unique place, straddling the longest border in the world. The Haskell library is located on the American-Canadian border in the cities of Stanstead in Quebec and derby line in Vermont. An agreement, so far, has so far the Canadians to take a sidewalk, on the American side, to access the library. But since a visit to the head of the Department of Internal Security, Kristi Noem, appointed by Donald Trump, the border protection service has announced the end of the agreement. While waiting to know the fate of its centenary customs posts and the famous street “Canusa”, the small Quebec town of Stanstead already embodies the fracture, every day, which distances American and Canadians.
