In the war in Ukraine, former policeman Yevgeny Inkin, convicted of the murder of two girls in the cranberry fall in 2002, died. This was written by the publication “People of Baikal”, whose reader noticed information about the funeral of Inkin in the city public “What is happening in Selenginsk.” Winkin died in August 2024 in the area of the village of Paraskovievka in a self -proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic. “Baikal people” suggests that the body of the ex-militia was delivered from the front only in the spring of 2025, its funeral should take place only on April 11. In April 2023, the Soviet District Court of Ulan-Ude sentenced Inkin to 17 years in the colony of the regime. His and another former policeman, Dmitry Istomin, found guilty of the murder of two people, associated with violent actions of a sexualized nature. Inkin was also charged with the illegal wearing of firearms and the abduction of a person, but he was released from punishment on the last point due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. Istomin was appointed 18 years in a maximum security colony. In May 2024, it became known that Istomin and Inkin concluded contracts from the Ministry of Defense and left for war in Ukraine. The investigation claimed that in 2002 the police “rested in nature” in the company of 17-year-old Evgenia Shekunova, 18-year-old Ekaterina Pateyuk and 15-year-old Ekaterina Ponomareva. Shekunova and Pateyuk were killed. There were no suspects in the case, and Inkin participated in the investigation of the murder. In 2019, Ponomareva said that she heard Pateyuk “jokingly said that she had a sexually transmitted disease,” and Inkin was angry, as, presumably, he had previously had sex with her. According to Ponomareva, she moved away from the company when she heard the cries of the girls who soon calmed down. She did not return. A few days after the murder, Ponomarev told, Inkin tried to drown her in the lake, but “distracted”, and Popov released her. In March 2022, the jury announced that the defendants were innocent, but they sent the case after the appeal of the relatives of the dead girls. (Tagstotranslate) News
