Following protests against the hijab law in Iran, implementation has been postponed. There were provisions in the law that a woman who violates the hijab law could also be sentenced to death. According to Iranian leader Ali Shakori Raid, “President Pezeshkian has clearly told Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that he is going to implement this law.” According to Shakori Raid, Pezeshkian told Khamenei that “If the new hijab law is implemented, it will cause huge losses to Iran, so I am not implementing it.”
