The city, famous worldwide for the Taj Mahal and the fort of Agra, is home to the world heritage sites of UNESCO. The city has a unique rich artistic and cultural heritage. But the full benefits related to tourism site, often do not reach local artisans. Especially here, the centuries -old work of stone inertia – the craftsmen of the centuries old, are not able to take proper advantage from their art. Protection of the cultural heritage and the agents, the conservation of the organizers, has started a new project called ‘World Heritage, Sustainable Development, and Local Community’ at the beginning of April (2025). The skill is focused on strengthening the development, livelihood and access to the market. Under this, their entrepreneurship will be developed by linking artisans with various welfare government schemes, enhancing proficiency in English language and training in innovation in design, social media marketing and customer service. Heritage Walks will be organized for children as a part of the project and they will also be provided books to fill color. Its aim will have to be familiar with the rich cultural heritage of Tajganj, so that they can develop a sense of awareness and appreciation of this art from childhood. In addition, community -led heritage tourism will be encouraged, in which efforts will be made to empower the spirit of pride towards culture from the participation of the local youth. Under the UNESCO project, a color filled book was also released, in which the unprecedented heritage of Tajganj is presented through paintings. On the occasion of starting a special churchpary plan, experts, policy makers, professionals and cultural experts associated with tourism, including National Institute of Design (NID), attended a panel discussion. In this discussion, the expansion of traditional crafts through innovation, increasing the access to the markets using digital forums, strategies were discussed. It is considered important, so that the traditional heritage of the artisans of Tajganj remains safe and continuous livelihoods could be ensured for them. The “Tajganj, the heritage of Agra” UNESCO, on the occasion, also released a color filled with ‘Tajganj, unprecedented heritage of Agra’, which has been presented to the rich heritage of Tajganj through attractive paintings. This book is a unique attempt to teach children about the historical heritage, craftsmanship and architecture around them. Through this initiative, UNESCO aims to create a community -centric sustainable development model, so that the mentors of the breathful heritage themselves strongly strengthen, take responsibility for its conservation.
