Since then, he has loaded and unloaded thousands of luggage, knows exactly which flights are to be expected on heavy cases and which flight connections are known for the fact that the passengers are more likely to travel with light luggage. To do this, he must ensure that all processes related to loading the luggage work optimally. “Anyone who flies from Frankfurt must also get their luggage in the end,” he says, which Miceli himself worked as a shipper himself will benefit him in his current position. “You should know all the processes,” he says. With the establishment of the so-called Wave system, it was possible to significantly shorten the expression times. Depending on the position, it still takes between three and seven minutes to find a single piece from the mass. “When the Wave system was launched, everything changed,” recalls the head of the task. Because before that, the employees simply went on a suitcase diving course for good luck-only the unit in which they had to look for was certain. Measurement cases easier. The pressure is great because every delay in the process leads to further problems. According to Miceli, the system reports up to 500 red luggage pieces on a top day on which up to 110,000 luggage pieces are loaded. “We often start – and break off again,” as he says. Because some guests still appear at the last minute, which the passengers do not even notice which efforts are running in the background so that everyone gets their suitcases on the travel destination is the top goal of his work, says Miceli, who generally takes care of optimizing the processes around the luggage clearance. The travelers, according to his impression, appreciate how hard the airport employees work every day.
