Free forum as it is easy to reduce the challenge against the deployment of areas with low emissions to a duel between the nice environmental protectors and the ugly populist, laments Alexandra Legendre, spokesperson for the Driver Defense League. Easy and contempt for the millions of French people concerned. © AFP/Frédéric Scheiber – Are the low -programs (ZFE) areas about to be abolished? Nothing is simple when we approach the subject of individual mobility and more particularly, travel by car. Anyone who claims that “it is still not complicated, it is enough to put more public transport”, or that “it is still not complicated to buy an electric, with all the subsidies that exist”, is content to fly over the problem with a priori even easier to draw when one is not affected directly. For these “there is only in a feature that we”, it is all the more easy to shed this problem nuance and answer that this dependence of the French at their automobile – 80% of them use it every day – will not be resolved with inconsistent clichés, it is enough to swing a good old accusation of populism. A term from which all those who sound the alarm sound, while low -emission zones (ZFE), prohibiting access to metropolises from the oldest vehicles, are deployed. This modern prohibition of the ZFE affects 2.8 million vehicles the laisse me reproduce here the definition of populism of the French Academy: “Attitude, behavior of a man or a political party which, against the ruling elites, arises as a defender of the people and the spokesperson for his aspirations, advancing most often simplistic and demagogic ideas”. But how is it “simplistic and demagogic” to explain that they are intended for access to around thirty metropolises (Annecy, Caen, Lyon, Montpellier, Paris, Rennes, Saint-Etienne, Tours, etc., as well as the surrounding municipalities) to cars, utilities, two-wheelers and heavy goods vehicles certainly elderly and mileage but always functional, it is unjust for those who do not have the means to buy a more recent model? Or only incomprehensible for those who have successfully passed technical control, including for “antipollution” points? Knowing that this modern prohibition directly affects 2.8 million vehicles which circulate there regularly and, more broadly, 14 million throughout France? From 2026, a PV with each journey? What is “simplistic and demagogic” to denounce the government’s maneuver, which refines an amendment to the simplification bill to limit the compulsory implementation of a ZFE to the “only” metropolises of Paris and Lyon, just to deflate a legitimate protest movement? By imagining that if there are “only” 2 million vehicles concerned in these two urban areas, the pill will pass without incident? Even though mayors, as the law anyway provides for it, will ultimately remain free to deploy a ZFE in the perimeter they administer? To read also: ZFE: why they must be removed according to the boss of Point S at the Driver Defense League, we have been vinishing for years for a postponement of the application of this law, the time to make this measurement of circulating traffic restriction, in particular thanks to the natural replacement of the car fleet and the quality of the air, which continues to improve. Because ultimately, just like the #gueux of Alexandre Jardin, the Federation of angry bikers, traders, craftsmen, fairgrounds … that we have rallied and who ask for their outright suppression, we all try to stop this madness of the ZFE. Because the “there is only that we”, unless I am mistaken, have to date have offered any immediate, concrete, inexpensive solution, so that all our fellow citizens keep the same right to circulate freely everywhere in our country. We demonstrated on April 6, we will demonstrate again on May 17. With, around us, not populists, but a people that we hope for ultra mobilized and fights for their freedom. Simple, but so honorable. >> Not miss anything from the automotive news by subscribing to our Auto Newsletter Receive our latest news twice a week, automotive news at a glance. (tagstotranslate) ZFE
