The PP accuses the government of giving up the defense of the interests of Ceuta and Melilla

The PP considers that the visit to Madrid on Thursday of the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, is “the confirmation” that the Spanish government has renounced to defend the interests of Ceuta and Melilla, in addition to delivering the Sahara “without conditions and without consensus”. “What the Government of Pedro Sánchez has done with the Sahara is a real diplomatic claudication against Rabat, another historical indignity of this disgust, a shameful act that leaves us sold before Morocco,” said the senator of the PP by Melilla, Isabel Moreno. “The greatest humiliation and evidence who has the baton in foreign policy” in statements to journalists, Moreno has referred to the fact that the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, has “received with red carpet” to his Moroccan counterpart in a visit that, in his opinion, “confirms that radical and autocratic shock” of the government on the Sahara, “acting behind the back of the Parliament.” The senator has underlined the “special concern” with which this matter is lived in Melilla for the “dire consequences” that “the delivery of the Sahara” has had for the autonomous city, since “the irresponsible and erratic foreign policy since Sánchez arrived at the government” supposed in 2018 the loss of “historical and centenary” commercial customs. To this is added the unidirectional application of the travelers regime on the land border, which “only favors Morocco” and lacks “the most elementary reciprocity, something that is fundamental between two kingdoms”, which for the PP is “the greatest humiliation and evidence who has the baton in foreign policy.” The PP demands that the Government “immediately reversed” “Our local economy remains strangled from Rabat with an impassive government against such offenses to our territories, consuming its unforgivable abandonment to Melilla and Ceuta,” said Moreno, who has indicated that the “delivery of the Sahara” has not meant receiving anything in return, “neither respect for borders nor guarantees on territorial integrity”. In addition, according to the senator, in Morocco, “Congresses for the Liberation” of both cities in Morocco have been held “with total and absolute impunity” by the Spanish Government, given the absence of diplomatic reaction to defend Ceuta and Melilla and while “the entire PSOE is put in profile and nobody raises their voice” by these “Spanish, strategic and fundamental” cities. For all these reasons, the PP has demanded that the Government “immediately reverse and defend a decent foreign policy based on respect for international legality and the protection of the interests of all Spaniards, especially those who live in Melilla and Ceuta”, which make up the southern border of Spain and Europe and “deserve special attention”.
