The American gendarme accuses the car booking platform with drivers (VTC) and home meal delivery “to have deceived customers about their subscriptions, but also to have made the cancellation unreasonably difficult”, relays BFMTV. The consumer protection agency filed a complaint against Uber this Monday, April 21, because according to it, the company, based in San Francisco, does not respect a law on the restoration of the confidence of people using digital services. “The Americans are tired of being registered with unwanted subscriptions that it seems impossible to cancel,” said Andrew Ferguson, president of the FTC, in a statement announcing the complaint. “We accuse not only to have deceived customers about their subscriptions, but also to have made the cancellation unreasonably difficult,” he adds. For his part, Uber refutes the accusations, denying having registered customers without their consent and ensuring that most subscription cancellations take “less than 20 seconds” in the application. “We are disappointed that the FTC has chosen to go ahead with this action,” reacted a Uber spokesperson to AFP. “But we are convinced that the courts will agree with what we already know: Uber One’s registration and cancellation procedures are clear, simple and respect the letter and the spirit of the law,” he said.
