Senegal: deputies debate the revision of the amnesty law

The Senegalese deputies began on Wednesday April 2 on Wednesday, an examination of the revision of the amnesty law covering deadly political violence between 2021 and 2024, carried by the ruling party but criticized by the opposition and civil society. This amnesty law had been adopted in March 2024, in the last weeks of the presidency of Macky Sall (2012-2024), in order to appease the years of political tensions which culminated as the presidential election of March 2024.
